What's it all about

I'm a part time and contract worker and I have worked numerous jobs and situations. Last year on my way to a job site everyday I passed by the same sign. Out on the front lawn of a nursery school/day care program was one of those signs on wheels with the black letters that you can change. It was one of the smaller ones.
The sign read The "EMP of MO" followed by a name.
Translation: "The employee of the month". It was too many letters to fit the whole thing on the sign. But every day for the 2/3 months that I passed it while working on this contract the same name appeared below "The EMP of MO". Are there only a few employees, maybe only one, the same one keeps winning (probably not) or were they too tired to change the sign after a day with the kiddies?
Anyway I used to smile and think that's me, "The Emp of MO" but my meaning was different. Referring to my contract status.
I also have a micro business and on my desk for the longest time I had a cartoon that I cut out of the paper. It was a guy sitting at his desk and on the wall behind him was a picture of him with the inscription below it; "Employee of the Month". Then in the next panel was the same picture and the next one and the next one. That made me smile to, that's me also, for a long time it hung there on the desk till it wore out.
Well "The Emp of MO" stuck with me, and now I have a place to use it. I don't know too many other contract workers who are like me and go from job to job. Most that I meet are looking for a permanent place to be, hoping to go from temp to perm as we say. They've been laid off, downsized, fired or just left a job and some just graduated or just returned to the workforce.
Believe me you meet all kinds of people and are in all kinds of work situations and environments.
